In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management of the engine room and ensuring its optimal performance. You will carry out preventive maintenance and repairs on the technical installations on board and keep the technical records up to date.

You will work closely with a small, close-knit team of three crew members on board. In addition, you will also collaborate closely with the technical department in Terneuzen, including a Technical Superintendent and a Technical Purchaser.

You will work on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation in the ports of Terneuzen, Ghent, Flushing and Antwerp.

Your profile

  • You hold at least a Certificate of Competency as Second Engineer < 3000 kW sailing.
  • You have valid STCW certificates, a medical examination and a seaman's book.
  • You have solid technical knowledge and experience as a mechanical engineer on board a seagoing vessel.
  • You are resilient, solution-oriented and have a hands-on mentality.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

Do you not (yet) meet the requirements, but have a strong interest in tug operations? We offer the opportunity to learn the profession through an (H)WTK apprenticeship programme. This programme consists of on-the-job training, where you will first carry out work under the supervision of experienced colleagues.
