At Multraship, everything revolves around craftsmanship, teamwork, and people who make a real difference. Kees’s career journey shows how versatile and dynamic the maritime profession can be.

From industry to the maritime world

Kees began his career in industry and construction but soon discovered his passion for being on the water. Inspired, he attended maritime college in Flushing every Saturday for two years. After completing maritime college, his career quickly developed. Kees went on to work in a wide range of maritime roles, from deckhand to captain, on tugs, multicats, and crew tenders.

In 2018, Kees joined Multraship on board MULTRASALVOR 4, a dedicated salvage vessel. The transition was natural: “You work with people who know what they’re doing, who trust one another, and who want to achieve something together.”

What appeals to him most about the job? The unexpected. “Salvage operations always come without warning. You have to be resourceful and able to adapt quickly when the original plan doesn’t work,” he explains. It is precisely this unpredictability that makes the profession so attractive to him.

A moment he’ll never forget

One of the highlights of his career was the salvage of an inland vessel, which was the first major salvage project for MULTRASALVOR 4. The vessel had sunk near Sloehaven and was refloated with the assistance of CORMORANT and several other vessels. “It was an operation where everything came together: teamwork, technical skill, and trust.”

Working at Multraship according to Kees

For Kees, working at Multraship is about more than just ships. It’s about collaboration, taking responsibility, and continuously learning. “No two days are the same. You never know exactly what’s coming, but you do know that you’ll solve it together.”
